This week the Stirling Prize shortlist was revealed

This week on Dezeen, RIBA unveiled the shortlist for this year’s Stirling Prize, which includes a mosque, a bridge in Cornwall and a museum in the Lake District.
Next to the Cambridge Central Mosque (above), 15 Clerkenwell Close, designed by Groupwork, was on the shortlist of six.
The building was surprisingly shortlisted as it was withdrawn from consideration of the price in 2018 due to a planning dispute between the studio and the municipality without the knowledge of its architect.
In an interview with Dezeen after the shortlist, groupwork founder Amin Taha said he was “speechless”.

Glenn Murcutt was also named the winner of this year’s Praemium Imperiale for Architecture in the award news, which is awarded annually by the Japan Art Association.
Murcutt, who was the first Australian to win the award, was named “an architect of his time” in the award ceremony.

The paint brand Dulux unveiled its color of the year in the Interior News.
The brand chose an “airy, light blue” color called Bright Skies because it “perfectly captures the optimism and desire for a fresh start that is the mood of the moment”.

We also thought about the Milan Design Week last week, which was held in reduced capacity due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s completely different from the other editions,” designer Luca Nichetto told Dezeen. “It’s a completely different rhythm. I prefer it that way because you can actually speak more deeply.”
