PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – It’s a jungle out there! A cat chased away a coyote in a neighborhood in southwest Portland, Oregon just before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The doorbell video shows the coyote sniffing a house near Portland Community College’s Sylvania campus.

But that coyote wasn’t counting on Kevin the cat.

Kevin jumped into action and sent the coyote to pack – first from the yard – then to the neighbor’s property across the street.

Coyotes, which weigh on average between 25 and 35 pounds, have become a common place in urban areas across the country and, according to researchers, are adept at adapting their diets to the available food sources.

While commonly spotted on golf courses and in parks in US cities, coyotes typically prefer open areas such as prairies and deserts.
