Quotes from Austin Wayne before the race:
On Watkins Glen International: “It’s nice to get back into a truck after a break of several weeks. I’m excited to get back on a street circuit. I really enjoy road racing and feel that as a road rider I keep getting better with every race.
“Running the ARCA race on Friday evening will be a great help in familiarizing yourself with the layout of Watkins Glen and hopefully we can bring the momentum of the ARCA race over to the truck race on Saturday afternoon.
“I would also like to thank The Safe Air Zone and Janitronics for jumping on board at Watkins Glen this weekend. Hopefully it’s a strong start by the end of the weekend. “
On the Knoxville Raceway: “That was too bad. We had such a fast No. 22 GO TEXAN | AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet Silverado, but the bottom lane really got king there in Stage 3 and it just became a bumpers issue at the restarts and we were at the wrong end very late in the race.
“It’s a shame. Ryan (Salomon, Crew Chief) and everyone brought me a great truck and Brett (Moffitt) was doing great before he had his problems. I’m proud of the performance of this AM racing team, even if we are are unable to produce the relevant results.
“Off to Watkins Glen and our final shot at a Hail Mary to make the playoffs.”
Season 2021: “That’s it about the playoffs. We will do whatever we can to put ourselves in a position to either fight for victory or even throw an Ave Maria to create a surprise.
“It won’t be easy, but we won’t go down without a fight.
“Even if we don’t reach the playoffs, it was a strong season for the AM Racing Team and we have a lot more to achieve and to prove before Phoenix in November.”
