Our product manager will be responsible for owning and defining MEASURE’s drone software. This role is tasked with managing the product roadmap, identifying user needs in multiple industries, and translating them into requirements that align with our business goals. This person should have extensive experience in the B2B and / or B2C software product management disciplines, ideally be familiar with drones, geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing for industries such as agriculture, energy or construction, and be curious about the human and machine interface.

MEASURE is an aviation company developing a complete software operating system for the automation of drones. Ground Control is the cloud-based plug-and-play operating system that offers everything that pilots and large companies need to operate drone fleets, fly autonomously, work together globally, visualize data and integrate it into existing systems and processes.

The role works closely with sales, marketing, product and engineering teams to understand the future of our business and quickly develop a product vision and bring it to life. The ideal candidate is an impeccable executor, a good partner, and always ready to roll up their sleeves.

Responsibilities

  • You are directly responsible for the establishment, growth, maintenance and ongoing management of Ground Control, our SaaS product. This requires conversations with users, buyers, partners and industry leaders to establish a data-driven market perspective to increase the success of our product in the highly competitive drone software market. You will meet regularly with Measure’s President and VP of Engineering to share your progress.
  • Product strategy. You are responsible for developing a product strategy that leads to the growth, acceptance and continued success of our software.
  • You’ll track trends in drone technology, talk to customers, create a plan, and execute it with a data-driven approach. You will incorporate user research and usability studies to identify key areas for improvement and coordinate with the VP of Engineering to provide those improvements.
  • Success. You align with your cross-functional team on defining success by defining, measuring, and tracking OKRs for each initiative. They also define business metrics that provide a short and long term MEASURE of health and success.
  • They coordinate with marketing and sales to create content that will help them position and sell Measure software to existing, new, and future customers.
  • Market awareness. You will maintain a measured, clear view of key competitors and the broader landscape and use this knowledge to maintain appropriate competitive differentiation with the product.
  • You create a clear 12 month rolling overview of features and capabilities that solve customer problems and drive the acquisition, adoption, and growth of Ground Control.
  • You communicate roadmaps, plans and the status of initiatives closely and widely across the entire MEASURE business and externally to partners and customers.
  • Remove friction. You will identify opportunities to support the business by reducing friction for the sales team in positioning and selling Measure Ground Control.

Skills and experience required

  • 5+ years of product management or comparable experience in a SaaS company.
  • Strong understanding of agile development methods and how to apply, use and make successful this and other development models.
  • Exceptional writing, oral and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with the engineering team, executives, sales and customers and build instant credibility.
  • Success in defining new products / features, especially SaaS software, from concept to implementation.
  • BA / BS degree in engineering, computer science, marketing, communications or a related field.
  • Ability to clearly articulate the “what,” “why,” and “who” to focus requirements definition, design exploration, and engineering execution on key customer benefits.
  • Proven ability to learn new technology and product capabilities and then translate those into value propositions. If you fail, learn and move on. When you are successful, teach others.
  • Proven ability to work closely with others inside and outside your team to achieve clear goals and results.

  • Experience with drones and / or GIS is an advantage, but not a requirement.
  • Familiarity with any of the following industries is a bonus: Agriculture; Energy; Construction.

Workplace

This is an on-site position. The candidate is expected to work full time in our Washington, DC or Austin office, traveling between locations and to customer locations, including days in the field flying drones for commercial purposes!
