The AUS2 Amazon Fulfillment Center in Pflugerville is now officially operational, and a company representative said the facility will be hiring new employees through next year.

In a press release from the Pflugerville Community Development Corp. July announced that Amazon was planning to hire 1,000 full-time employees.

The AUS2 facility began operations on October 17, and Daniel Martin, Amazon’s regional PR manager, said 600 people work at the center.

“We often go phased in our rollouts, so we’ll be adding new team members practically every week for the next few weeks as we roll up for the holidays and then into next year,” said Martin.

An October 18 press release from Amazon said the company is hiring 150,000 seasonal jobs nationwide, with facilities in the Austin area accounting for 3,000.

As part of the Pflugerville launch, Martin said operations include receiving incoming packages, training new team members, and building inventory.

Martin also pointed out that the AUS2 site will be the first fulfillment center in the greater Austin area to feature a state-of-the-art robotics component that will help keep operations going over the Christmas season.
