City of Austin Honors Entrepreneurs with Business Skills Certification
[ad_1]
AUSTIN, TX – The City of Austin’s Economic Development Department recognizes 30 local entrepreneurs and small business employees who have earned a Business Skills Certification through a virtual ceremony on Friday, July 23rd. Participants were required to complete six training courses designed to strengthen the skills required to successfully run and grow a small business. The courses were offered through a partnership with the University of Texas at Austin Center for Professional Education (UT CPE).
“We are delighted that so many current and future entrepreneurs have been able to improve their business acumen even during a pandemic. That speaks for the resilience of small companies. ”Explains Sylnovia Holt-Rabb, managing director of the business development department. “Austin is still a great place to start small businesses and we’re here to help.”
While many courses were held in person prior to the pandemic, the training program successfully expanded online options to enable continued safety learning. Class topics ranged from the basics of human resources to small business accounting and social media marketing to filing. In December 2020 another 40 graduates of the Business Skills Certification were recognized and celebrated. In the past decade of this partnership, more than 10,000 participants have benefited from business education classes taught by experienced UT CPE instructors.
The Small Business Division of the Economic Development Department offers weekly training courses, special events, business coaching and helpful resources for those looking to start or expand a business in Austin. To see an upcoming class schedule, visit www.SmallBizAustin.org.
