Cloudflare Collaborates with Microsoft and Major Search Engines to Help Improve Websites’ Search Results
[ad_1]
SAN FRANCISCO – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE: NET), the security, performance, and reliability company that helps build a better Internet, has announced that it is partnering with Microsoft, Yandex, and other leading search engines to help businesses do what possible timely and relevant search results for your customers. By participating in the IndexNow.org initiative, Cloudflare enables websites to automatically notify search engines when content is created, updated, or deleted so that it can be crawled more efficiently. Now all Cloudflare customers can ensure that users can see the latest version of their content with a single click.
Search engines use a complex network of bots to crawl the ever-changing content on the Internet so people can find relevant, up-to-date content. Today around 45% of Internet traffic comes from web crawlers and bots. To make crawlers more efficient on the web, Cloudflare introduced Crawler Hints – an easy way to signal bot developers when content has been changed or added to a website so they can make more efficient decisions about what to crawl. Additionally, website owners can improve website performance by reducing unnecessary bot traffic and delivering timely content, which ultimately helps improve search rankings. Now Cloudflare uses the IndexNow standard to bring crawler notices to the major search engines.
“A fast, reliable website and timely search results are at the heart of any growing business, whether it’s a start-up or a Fortune 500 company. From the very beginning, we’ve worked to help our customers get the speed, reliability, and security they need to do their business, ”said Matthew Prince, Co-Founder and CEO of Cloudflare. “Today we’re going one step further by partnering with Microsoft and other major search engines to help every website owner reduce inefficiencies while delivering reliable, relevant, and timely online experiences to their users.”
Cloudflare’s global network spans more than 250 cities in over 100 countries and serves millions of Internet properties. Now every Cloudflare customer can opt for crawler notices with a single click on their dashboard – for free – to automatically start sending notices to search engines when content on their website has been changed.
“The cache data from CDNs is a really valuable signal that the content is up-to-date. As one of the leading CDNs, Cloudflare is key to introducing IndexNow to become an industry standard that is actually used by much of the Internet, ”said Fabrice Canel, Principal Program Manager, Microsoft Bing. “Cloudflare made a really simple 1-click button for their users to start using right away. Cloudflare’s mission to help build a better internet fits well with the reason we launched IndexNow, which is to make search more efficient and effective. ”
“Yandex is excited to join IndexNow as part of our long-term focus on sustainability,” said Maxim Zagrebin, Head of Yandex Search. “We worked with the Cloudflare team in early tests to integrate their caching signals into our crawling mechanism via the IndexNow API. The results have been great so far. ”
