‘Game-Changer’: Texas A&M To Build New Campus In Downtown Fort Worth

Shaped by its old-west image of cowboys wearing boots, Fort Worth stands in the dust of the new economy.

However, the A&M University Aggies of Texas are poised to brand Cowtown as the next Austin for research and innovation. University, city, and Tarrant County officials announce an estimated $ 350 million project at 10:00 a.m. on November 10th that will advance Fort Worth for the next century.

“This is a turning point for the city,” businessman John Goff told the Fort Worth Report. “It’s a cornerstone of Fort Worth’s economic future.”

Fort Worth had seen a number of economic disappointments when Radio Shack and Pier 1 closed their corporate offices over the past 20 years. With that in mind, Goff pondered what would most dramatically change the fortunes of Fort Worth when he was named co-chair of Fort Worth Now, a privately funded effort to revitalize the city’s economy, in May 2020.
