AUSTIN, TX — Halloween is just around the corner, which means it’s time to get into the spooky spirit Austin!
All Hallow’s Eve will be on Sunday, and as we lead up to the spook-tacular day, there will be dozens of wicked events happening in the Austin Metro.
Patch has rounded up a list of things to do this weekend in Austin, including where to grab a pumpkin and where to get spooked at the best haunted attraction in town.
Tuesday, Oct. 26
4th annual Ugly Dog Contest
If your dog looks a little “ruff,” your pup can get all the recognition they deserve at Jo’s Downtown, with their 4th Annual Ugly Dog Contest.
The contest will run from Oct. 24-Oct. 30 at downtown or Red River. You can submit your pup into one of three categories: Ugliest Dog, Best Costume, and Best in Show.
100 percent of each $10 entry fee goes to the Austin Humane Society and they’re taking their submissions online before in-person judging on Oct. 31. Read more information and enter the contest here.
Thursday, Oct. 28
“Hocus Pocus” movie screening
Hotel Ella is hosting a screening of Disney’s “Hocus Pocus” at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The event is outside, so come prepared with lawn chairs, blankets and whatever else you need to stay warm. It is also a costume party “if you dare.” Tickets cost $15 per person and include a caramel apple from The Cupcake Bar.
If you head to dinner at Goodall’s before the movie, you can get 15 percent off your meal when you show the staff your ticket confirmation email. Tickets are available online.
A Quiet Place Movie Screening + Silent Disco at W Hotel
W Hotel will host “A Quiet Place” movie screening with a silent disco at its wet deck from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28.
Guests will get into Halloween with a scary screening of the movie while three local DJs spin silent disco style into the evening.
The W will also feature a new spooky cocktail called the Cran-caipirinha using cachaca, a Brazilian spirit, lime juice, simple syrup, and cranberry juice.

Thursday Fright Night
Jo’s Coffee on South Congress is closing out its 2021 Thursday Fright Night series with a screening of “Beetlejuice.” The movie will begin at 7 p.m.
Cosmic Halloween
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden is a having Halloween costume party hosted by DJ Mel.
The event includes a costume contest for both humans and dogs. It starts at 6:30 p.m., and winners will receive special Cosmic, Shakey Graves and Roughhouse merchandise as a prize.
Doggos can also get a free dog tarot card reading from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. All sales, including donations from the tarot card reading, will benefit the Central Texas Food Bank.
Friday, Oct. 29
Participate in a Werewolf Costume Contest
Meanwhile Brewing Co. is hosting its first-ever “Werewolf Costume Contest and Dog Party” on Friday at 7 p.m.
Owners are encouraged to dress their dog as best they can to “impress some of our favorite pup influencers.” A “tasty prize” is up for grabs.

Halloween at the Hall in Cedar Park
The city of Cedar Park will host a Halloween at the Hall outside its city hall on 450 Cypress Creek Road on Friday, Oct. 29.
The event will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. It will feature photo-ops, candy stations, a pumpkin patch, police, fire and public works cars.
Officials said City Hall Building 1 will be lit with Halloween-themed décor October 25 through 31, for residents to stop by and snap photos.

Saturday, Oct. 30
The Jam Room’s Halloween Howl
The fun at Meanwhile Brewing Co. continues into the weekend. On Saturday at 8 p.m., six bands will play Meanwhile’s outdoor stage. There will also be a costume contest, games and prizes.
The cover is $5 and tickets are available online.
Boo Bash on the Lawn
On Saturday from noon until 4 p.m., the Hill County Galleria is hosting its family-friendly “Boo Bash on the Lawn.” The event will include an interactive performance for kids by Joe McDermott and a dog costume contest.
The performance starts at 4 p.m., and the contest starts at 2 p.m. Monday was the last day to register for the contest. You can do so by clicking here.
Halloween at Hotel San Jose
Hotel San Jose says its “annual Halloween party looms.” On Saturday, the hotel is offering drink specials, music by DJs Chuck’N’Coffins and a costume contest.
The event is from 8 p.m. to midnight and is free for everyone.
Halloween Bash at Dreamland
Dreamland in Dripping Springs is hosting a free Halloween event. The main event is an outdoor concert by Hair Metal Giants.
From 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., you can also enjoy photo opportunities with more than 3,500 pumpkins, a costume contest, pumpkin painting, food and drink specials and more.
Tricks, Treats and Trails
LCRA Parks is opening a trick-or-treating trail on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It will be located at Zip Lost Pines at McKinney Roughs Nature Park in Cedar Park.
Tickets are $15 for people 13 and older and $15 for children 12 and younger. They’re available online for purchase.
Several other activities and attractions will be available on top of trick-or-treating. And for an extra cost, you can purchase tickets to a spooky zip line tour.
Viva la Vida Festival in Austin
Due to COVID-19, Viva la Vida, which is hosted by Mexic-Arte Museum, will kickoff virtually on Saturday, Oct. 30.
Austin’s largest and longest-running Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festival and parade in Texas will present footage from parades past, encourage patrons to check out Mariposa Plaza for educational activities, and follow along to Día de los Muertos traditions.

AISD Police Trunk or Treat Drive-Thru
The Austin ISD Police Department is hosting a drive-thru trunk-or-treat event Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The department said everyone is welcome at the Nelson Field Athletic Complex.
Sunday, Oct. 31
Spooky Silent Disco Party
From 9 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday, The Belmont is “holding it down” with three DJs at its Halloween party silent disco. Upon arrival, you’ll receive special wireless headphones.
Costumes are not required but are “strongly suggested.” You must be 21 years old to attend.
Tickets range from $10 to $15 and are available online.
Love Tito’s Howl-o-ween costume contest
Bring your furry friend by Love,Tito’s all dressed up in their Howl-o-ween costume for a fun surprise!
Tito’s is offering free bandanas for dressed-up pups on from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.
Squid Game at Seoulju
Korean restaurant Seolju is hosting a kill-free version of Netflix’s popular series “Squid Game.” But the prizes are still to die for! Losers get a free shot, and the winner gets paid everyone’s entry fees combined.
To participate, you need need to Venmo Seoulju $10 by Friday, Oct. 29. The event is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Día De Los Muertos at Waterloo Park
Waterloo Park will host a Día De Los Muertos event from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31.
The event, which is presented in partnership with Frida Friday ATX, will offer a day full of music, dance, community altars, hands-on art activities, and an amazing artisan market featuring dozens of independent BIPOC artists and creatives.

Monday, Nov. 1
Día de los Muertos at Trudy’s Tex-Mex
Trudy’s Tex-Mex will host a Día de los Muertos celebration from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1 at their South Star and North Star locations.
The celebration will feature a $500 “Best Dead” celebrity contest, sugar skull face painting, live music, drink specials, and more.

Embrace all the good things autumn has to offer, while it lasts, by taking a fun-filled family trip to the best pumpkin patch in town this Halloween weekend.
Patch has gathered a list of places to visit:
Texas Pumpkin Fest
The pumpkin patch in Leander will be available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting Friday, Sept. 25 and will continue through Thursday, Nov. 7. The festival is located at 10930 East Crystal Falls Parkway and will be open seven days-a-week.
Patrons will have the opportunity to explore more than 5 acres of pumpkins and gourds, play a variety of games, get lost in a hay maze, enjoy silly fun on the bounce slide and obstacle course, climb the top of the massive 65 ft. super slide and race to the bottom, enjoy the kiddie and tractor trains and a variety of other events and activities to enjoy.
Barton Hill Farms Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze in Bastrop
Barton Hills Farms, 1115 FM 969, in Bastrop will host its annual pumpkin patch and corn maze from Sept. 25 through Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.
The farm offers sunflowers to pick along with pumpkins, the Hey Elon! Corn maze, live music, food, beer, apple cannons, archery and more. For more information, check out the farm’s Facebook page.
Pumpkin Nights In Austin
Pumpkin Nights is coming to Austin this October. The Halloween-themed walking path will be available from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at night every day in October at 10621 Pioneer Farms Drive in Austin.
The path will feature a 10-foot tall Jack-o-Lanterns, the world’s largest pumpkin guitar, a flying 40-foot handmade dragon, a life-size pumpkin pirate ship and more fantastic surprises built by the event’s artists using over 5,000 hand-carved real and synthetic pumpkins.

Haunted Attractions You Have To Visit In Austin Metro

Scream Hollow in Smithville
Considered to be one of the largest (and scariest) Halloween events in Texas, this Halloween park offers all the scary haunts near Austin.
The park, located at 149 Split Rail Lane in Smithville, opened Sept. 17 and will continue through Halloween every Friday through Sunday. It features five haunted attractions, a haunted hayride, live music in the beer garden, two outdoor bars and tavern, a cafe, carnival bus with food, gift shops and more.

Bat City Scaregrounds in Austin
This 15-acre Halloween theme park in Austin hosts multiple haunted houses, food and general spooky, scary and horror entertainment.
Bat City Scaregrounds, located at 14101 South Turnersville Road, opens to the public on Friday, Oct. 1. The park offers Vegas-style stage performances, live music, seasonal treats and eats, a giant drive-in movie screen, fire performers and more.

Last Stop Haunt in Leander
Every year on Halloween, Last Stop Haunt offers frights and scares to Leander locals for two nights only. This year’s event will kickoff Saturday, Oct. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Hutton Lane.
The haunted house will be taking non-perishable food donations for HCCM Food Pantry starting on Oct. 24. For more information, check out their Facebook page or visit its website.
Terror on Two Jacks Haunted House in Round Rock
This haunted house, located at 7410 Two Jacks Trail, was “built on top of the grave of the Hairy Man of Brushy Creek.”
It offers frights every weekend from Oct. 9-31 and has a $5 admission per person. Each admission is a donation to the Round Rock Serving Center.
Battleground Ranch’s Zombie Silent Death mode
Imagine fighting zombies in the woods at night? Well, now you can make it a reality.
Battleground Ranch, 15112 Fagerquist Rd., in Del Valle will host a zombie laser tag event called “Silent Death Mode” this October.

House of Torment in Austin
House of Torment is back this year to scare guests with its three new haunted attractions in Austin. The haunted house is open from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the month of October.
Tickets start at $19.99 for general admission and are available online for purchase.
COVID-19 protocol: All guests must provide a negative COVID-19 test (in the past 72 hours) or proof of vaccination.
Fatal Fear Haunted House in Austin
Fatal Fear Haunted House, an immersive home haunt in Northwest Austin, is considered to be one of the most “realistic, terrifying and intense haunted houses you will experience in Austin.”
This year’s haunted house, which is located at 3509 Cowden Drive, will be themed The Haunting of Mortis Manor and Hillside Sanitorium. Reservations are free and can be made online.
Donations are encouraged at the door. Officials said 100 percent of the proceeds will be benefitting the Cups and Cones Community Foundation, helping feed families in need.
