World-class arena expected to be groundbreaking in 2022 and opening in 2024

SÃO PAULO, Oct 15, 2021 / PRNewswire / – This was announced today by the Mayor of São Paulo Ricardo Nunes that the city will welcome a new 20,000-seat arena created through the partnership of Live nation entertainment, the world’s leading live entertainment company; Oak View Group (OVG), the global venues development, consulting, and investment company for the sports and live entertainment industries; and GL events, a world-class provider of integrated event solutions and services, that has received a 30-year lease from the City of São Paulo for the Anhembi campus (4 million square feet). The state-of-the-art ARENA SÃO PAULO will host live events such as concerts, sports games, family entertainment and more and is located in São Paulo’s premier entertainment destination, the ANHEMBI DISTRICT, which is already known for hosting the Carnival Parade among others.

As part of the development agreement, Anhembi will become the newest district of São Paulo and revitalize the fabric of the surrounding community. The announcement of the ARENA SÃO PAULO marks the beginning of the redevelopment of the entire ANHEMBI DISTRICT, which will include an extensive real estate investment program. With the indoor arena, a cultural boulevard, an exhibition center and São Paulo’s first next-generation international convention center, Anhembi will become a global benchmark for events. The agreement marks the most significant step in the modernization of the complex in its 50-year history. As a result of the redevelopment, the complex will generate cash flows of approximately 5 billion Brazilian reais of economic benefit to the city and local businesses and will become one of the main engines for boosting São Paulo’s economy.
