Man dead, suspect in custody after shooting outside business near Manor

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Police said a man was dead and a suspect is in custody outside a shop near Manor after a shooting Monday afternoon.

Police said people started calling 911 around 1:49 p.m. after hearing gunshots at Smart Motors, a used car shop at 12706 Harris Branch Parkway. The officers arrived about 10 minutes later and found a man in his 40s with multiple gunshot wounds.

Austin-Travis County EMS medics worked nearly 30 minutes to resuscitate the man, a spokesman said. However, he died on the spot from his injuries.

The police said they had taken a suspect into custody but did not want to divulge any information about that person. They said they are now investigating the link between the suspect and the victim. You said the detectives believe this is an isolated incident.

According to police, this marks the 81st murder of Austin this year.
