Tanya Acevedo
Tanya Acevedo has been named the new Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer of Miami Dade College (MDC).
With three decades of experience, Acevedo has a proven track record in establishing the technology vision and leading innovative strategies to advance the goals of large corporations.
Most recently, Acevedo served as Chief Technology Officer for Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airports in Houston, TX. Previously, she was the chief information officer for Travis County in Austin, TX, where she was responsible for the technology, strategic direction and operations of one of the largest counties in the country. She also held various technology management and consulting roles in County Orange, CA; Toyota Financial Services ,; Edmunds.com and Answerthink Consulting to name a few.
She holds a master’s degree in business administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Michigan State University. She is also a certified project management professional. In 2021, she was named a public sector finalist by the Houston CIO of the Year ORIBE Awards. In 2017, she was listed in Government Technology Magazine as a Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Driver. In addition, she received the Texas Public Sector, Chief Information Officer of the Year in 2016 and the IT Woman of the Year from Austin, TX Innotech in 2013.
