UPDATE SUNDAY CLOCK: One of the 14 people wounded during the shooting in Austin, Texas 6th Street Entertainment District early Saturday, a 25-year-old man, has died from his injuries, the Austin Police Department confirmed on Sunday.
UPDATE SUNDAY JUNE 1 PM: Officials said one of the suspects arrested for the mass shootings early Saturday was a youth, which could complicate the prosecution.
Police and prosecutors have up to 48 hours from the time a person is arrested to bring charges against them. The person arrested in the incident was not given any age or name, and their identity and court records in the case are reportedly likely to remain confidential.
The officers are still looking for a second suspect. It is not clear whether this person is also a teenager.
Interim Police Chief Joe Chacon said the shooters could face a range of charges, including attempted murder and aggravated assault with a lethal weapon.
TO UPDATE: One person was arrested in the Austin mass shooting incident and the number of people injured is now up to 14, Mayor Steve Adler’s office said.

Two of the injured are still in critical condition, said Joseph Chacon, Austin interim police chief, at a press conference on Saturday. He did not provide any information about the arrest of the suspect in the shooting. However, he said police had identified two male suspects responsible for the shooting, suggesting their confrontation was an argument between the two.
EARLIER: Austin, Texas’s popular 6th Street entertainment district, was the site of a mass shooting early Saturday morning. Police reported that 13 people were injured and the alleged shooter was not in custody.
Two of the injured were in critical condition, Austin interim police chief Joseph Chacon said.
The shooting took place around 1:30 a.m. along 6th Street with many bars, restaurants and nightclubs in a town that calls itself the live music capital. The road was cordoned off to keep out car traffic.
There were no specific details about what happened or what caused the shootings.
“Our officers reacted very quickly,” said Chacon. “For many of these patients, they were able to immediately begin life-saving procedures, including tourniquet application; Applications of breast seals. “
Some gunshot victims were taken to the hospital in police cruisers, Chacon said.
Chacon said the description of the shooter was “not very detailed,” but said the person was a man. Investigators checked surveillance videos and other evidence from the area, Chacon said.
Downtown Austin is slowly returning to full capacity after the pandemic.
