Pioneer in College Access and Success Taps New Executive Director at Founding Site in Minnesota

Dr. Ramirez most recently served as Interim General Manager of College Possible Minnesota and as Vice President of Site Management in the National Office of College Possible. In her role, she advised and coached the Executive Directors of College Possible on regional growth strategies and fostered a community of practice for Executive Directors who shared cross-location learning and innovation.

“This role will allow me to focus my attention even more on the work that needs to be done to support and nurture a community I love,” said Dr. Joanna Ramirez, executive director of College Possible Minnesota. “I look forward to working with these great staff, board members and donors to help students across the state Minnesota achieve their goals. “

A St. Paul Dr. Resident for 16 years, Ramirez also serves on the Executive Committee of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Board of Directors and is active in LatinoLEAD (a local group of Latinx executives) and part of a cohort of Adaptive Leaders for Race Equity. Before entering College Possible, Dr. Ramirez was selected as a Bush Leadership Fellow and was Vice President of Business Solutions at the Metropolitan Economic Development Association. Dr. Ramirez earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas, Austin.
