AUSTIN, TX – On Monday morning, State Representative Steve Toth (R-The Woodlands) announced that he had filed House Bill 241 to initiate a forensic review of the 2020 general election. The Texas Voter Confidence Act empowers the governor, lieutenant governor, and House Speaker to appoint an independent third party to conduct the election review. The forensic exam would focus on the voices in the 13 most populous counties in Texas, which include both Republican and Democratic strongholds.

“We need a forensic exam to uncover all the electoral fraud,” said Rep. Toth. “Before the special session, I met with voters from District 15 in South Montgomery County. The Texas Voter Confidence Act is a product of these meetings and a direct request from the voters who sent me to Austin. Texans want to know more about electoral fraud allegations and deserve confidence in their elections. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has prosecuted over 500 electoral fraud cases and is investigating a further 400 cases. Voters want to know that their legal vote counts and counts. ‘

Rep Toth’s legislation stipulates that testing will begin on November 1, 2021 and should be completed by February 1, 2022.

“Rep. Toth’s bill is timely and necessary to uncover cases of fraud during the 2020 election and reassure Texas voters that their votes have been counted correctly,” said Mark J. Keough, district judge for Montgomery County. “I fully support the passage of this bill and look forward to the results of the audit.”

Steve Toth is a small business owner representing South Montgomery County in the Texas House of Representatives.
