AUSTIN, Texas – Say goodbye to London after a 17 month hiatus.
British Airways will resume nonstop flights from Austin to London Heathrow on October 13th.
British Airways has been flying Austin-Bergstrom International Airport three days a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays since March 2014.
“We can’t wait to welcome our customers back aboard our Austin flights and are honored to do our part to reunite families and friends with loved ones after such a long time,” said Marie Hilditch, Head of British Airways of North America sales. “The safety of our customers and colleagues has always been the focus of everything we do. We know that some customers have not flown for a long time and can assure them that we have taken a number of Covid-19 measures to make travel stress-free and stress-free. ”
To combat the pandemic, British Airways has implemented numerous health protocols to protect its customers and crew. These measures include social distancing guidelines, hand sanitizing stations, and the wearing of face masks. The air on board is also completely recycled every two to three minutes through HEPA filters.
“The Austin to London route was more than just a fantastic way to travel; it was a big contributor to the local economy,” said Gina Fiandaca, Austin Assistant City Manager. “We look forward to welcoming British Airways and their customers back to Austin.”
“We are excited to see British Airways return to Austin and celebrate the return of non-stop flights to London Heathrow,” said Jacqueline Yaft, AUS Chief Executive Officer. “The resumption of the non-stop transatlantic between our two cities is great news for business and leisure travelers alike.”
