NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) – The SFA’s Rusche College of Business welcomes Shark Tank celebrity and entrepreneur Damond John this week.
Students on the college’s newest Entrepreneur and Strategy degree will listen to the free public event.
Your Professor Dr. Raymond Jones will interview the entrepreneur John. He once heard the shark shell performer speak and is confident that the audience will be enlightened.
“Very attractive. Very energetic, ”said Jones of the successful businessman.
John is called “the shark of the people” and emphasizes that you don’t need money to make money.
A hard lesson to understand for a bitcoin generation. Jones teaches that success doesn’t happen overnight, it takes patience.
“Thinking about creativity and problem solving, and really seeing new opportunities, whether you’re starting your own business or working for another company,” said Jones.
And a self-developed company for its class. You discover what is not working.
“We started with a lawn care service. And we decided very quickly that that wasn’t going to work, ”said Devon Ashcroft, an economist and finance professional.
Almost all of the team members had jobs after school.
So a company was chosen to fill a void on campus.
“You recently picked up the Great American Cookie on campus,” said Aubrie Smith, who is pursuing a degree in entrepreneur studies.
“Our business is called Sweet Jacks,” said hiring manager William Douglas. “Basically we make cookies and sell them on campus.”
Smith is the baker and her team members help out with marketing and sales. The startup experience can help film student Elizabeth Trujillo fulfill her dream of one day owning a studio.
“I think this is a great opportunity to learn more about how I can do this.”
And Jones doesn’t expect quick ideas from Damond John, whose fashion brand has made product sales around the world.
“He worked hard. And it’s about hard work,” said Jones. “It’s about your own drive and motivation. And surround yourself with the right people.”
Which does not require money, but rather well-considered decisions.
John will be the guest speaker in the third edition of the Rusche College of Business Nelson Rusche Distinguished Lecture Series. The event is scheduled for Thursday evening at 7:30 am in the Kennedy Auditorium at Stephen F. Austin State University.
The event is free of charge. Reserved cardholders have one seat. All others are on a first come, first served basis.
