Governor Abbott appoints three members to the Jefferson and Orange County’s Board of Pilot Commissioners

Austin, TX Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Chris Guy, Shawn M. Sparrow and Milton “Brad” Taylor to the Jefferson and Orange County Board of Pilot Commissioners expiring August 22, 2023 Have exclusive responsibility for the pilotage services provided in Jefferson and Orange Counties, including stopovers and docks for ships on navigable rivers, all or part of which is the responsibility of the Board.

Chris Guy of Beaumont is the Engineering Manager for the Construction / Structural Division of the Lanier & Associates Consulting Engineers, Inc. office in Beaumont. He is Vice President of the Sabine Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Guy received a BS in civil engineering from Lamar University and a MS in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Shawn M. Sparrow of Beaumont is Vice President of The Houseman Companies and a member of the board of directors of the First State Bank of Texas. He is the past chairman of the board of directors of the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce, past vice chairman of the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce Economic Development, past president of the Rotary Club of Orange, and was a board member of West Orange’s Stark CISD career advisors technical education. Sparrow received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Lamar University.

Milton “Brad” Taylor of Bridge City is the owner and chief operating officer of Sterling Shipyard LP, president of Sterling Mechanical and Boiler Services LLC, owner and vice president of SHBS Development Inc., and managing partner of Sterling Industries Inc. He is the current chairman of the Incident Review Committee of the Jefferson and Orange County Pilots Commission and previously served as production manager at Orange Shipbuilding, process operator at SASOL and production manager at Halter Marine. Taylor graduated from McNeese State University with a degree in business administration.
