Top military friendly company

Here at Verizon we take great pride in supporting our troops and veterans, so it’s no surprise we have been recognized as a Top Military Friendly Company for the past five years – and we look forward to keeping that momentum going! Just in time for National Veterans and Military Families Month, we are proud to announce that Verizon has been named the # 2 Military Friendly Company of 2022. In addition, for the first time in our history we received the HIRE Vets Medallion 2021 and we are again among the top 15 of the Best for Vets: Employer Survey 2021.

With over 8,000 Veterans in our ranks, we are very proud to receive these awards and to start our Veterans Day events.

Run the run.

Join us today at 1:00 p.m. ET / 10:00 AM PT as we team up the Wounded Warrior Project and our Verizon Health & Wellness team for a virtual walk on Instagram Live on the handle @vteamwellness. As you walk, hear conversations about the role wellness plays in military and corporate life.

And it doesn’t have to end here. In events throughout the month, honor our veterans by giving back. On the volunteer portal, you’ll find activities like writing letters to senior veterans, engaging and emotional support for wounded warriors, offering networking and mentoring support, and much more.

Support those who need it most.

Speaking of support, it is so important that we take care of our disabled, elderly, and homeless veterans. Check out the NextGov Critical Update podcast, which introduces an innovation project aimed at helping isolated veterans during the pandemic and improving diagnostic skills with the help of Verizon 5G.

In honor of Pat’s legacy.

Verizon Consumer Group works with the Pat Tillman Foundation, an organization created to honor the NFL player and Afghanistan veteran who gave his life for his country. We’ll tell Pat’s story and show our support with an event on November 16th in Austin, TX that will showcase a mural and donation to the foundation.

Tami Erwin moderates veterans talk.

Tami Erwin, CEO of Verizon Business, spoke to veteran Shoshana Johnson, the first black female prisoner of war, and Joel McCollough, who helped rescue her and rescue five others from captivity, on LinkedIn Live. They talked about how service is always a part of their being and the importance of supporting the military. If you want to learn more about Shoshana’s story, check out her book I’m Still Standing: From Captive US Soldier to Free Citizen – My Journey Home.
