COMPANION BILL WALKS FORWARD IN TX SENATE
Austin, TX – Thursday, Rep. Steve Toth (The Woodlands), who tabled the first bill to scrutinize the Texas election in 2020, doubled its obligation to scrutinize with HB 244. “This new bill creates a detailed process for the Initiate an audit, ”said Rep Toth. “Voters deserve to know that their votes are counted accurately and that the voting systems we use are safe from fraud.
“After the overwhelming support of my original bill (HB 26), colleagues in the House and Senate worked together on several scrutiny proposals,” Toth continued. “I am grateful for the guidance Lieutenant Governor and Senator Bettencourt have shown in getting to the bottom of the 2020 elections. Because of their efforts, the Senate Companion moves forward to HB 244. It is high time to investigate and prosecute violations of Texas Electoral Law. Since there is only a limited time left in the second special meeting, we will submit these two invoices again in the next meeting. “
