H-E-B announces recall connected to recent Tyson Foods recall

Austin, Texas – HEB says certain HEB branded products are being recalled at Tyson Foods Inc. due to a recent possible Listeria contamination.
According to Tyson Foods Inc., the recall affects approximately 8.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat chicken products that could be contaminated with listeria.
HEB says Tyson’s recall affects some HEB branded products sold in their stores and at South Flo Pizza locations in Texas.
The potentially contaminated frozen fully cooked chicken products were manufactured between December 26, 2020 and April 13, 2021 at a Tyson Foods facility in Dexter, Missouri. The products were sold to hospitality and retail customers and distributed nationwide. Each pack of affected retail products has the operational code P-7089.
The affected HEB Meal Simple items were produced from January 28th to July 4th, 2021. The affected South Flo Pizza items were produced from January 13th to July 4th, 2021. All products related to this recall that were sold at HEB have been removed from production and store shelves, the grocery chain says.

- White Meat Chicken and UPC Code 26625700000
- Buffalo Chicken Wrap with UPC code 26622600000
South Flo pizza items (store made)
- Buffalo Chicken 16 inch pizza with UPC code 88869208311
- Buffalo Chicken 8 inch pizza with UPC code 88869208312

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
According to a U.S. Department of Agriculture press release, an investigation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that three people had become ill from Tyson’s chicken products and one had died. HEB says there are no confirmed reports of side effects from products from HEB stores.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the frail, the elderly, and others with compromised immune systems. Although healthy individuals can only experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
