AUSTIN (KXAN) – In an 18-wheeler accident in north Austin early Thursday morning, Interstate 35 left only one lane in each direction.
The 18-wheeler broke through a concrete median and blocked traffic in both directions. It took the crews most of the morning commute to clear the wreck and get traffic going. The wreck created huge backups for commuters through northern Austin,
The Texas Department of Transportation tweeted about the crash on I-35 near US 183 and Rundberg Lane around 5:50 a.m. The video from a TxDOT camera aimed at the crash shows a strong presence of emergency vehicles. The lanes are now open again.
There were also traffic problems on I-35 in South Austin near St. Edward’s University. An 18-wheeler has lost its load on the freeway near Woodward Street and traffic is blocked on North Front Street.
