AUSTIN, Texas – On Friday June 4th, security checkpoints at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport were secured approximately two hours in the morning.

As the COVID-19 pandemic no longer has the country under control and people are increasingly resuming air travel, these backups will continue, the airport reports.

According to the airport, the recent surge in traffic has significantly increased waiting times at ticket counters and security checkpoints.

Since most delays occur in the early hours of the morning, the airport encourages travelers whose flights depart before 8 a.m. to arrive three hours before their scheduled departure.

This is especially advisable if a passenger has checked baggage or has an international destination.

If your flight departs after 8:00 am, it is recommended that you arrive two hours before departure. However, you are asked not to arrive too early as this will lead to traffic jams.
