BOISE, Idaho – Alaska Air has added two new nonstop flights from Boise to Pullman-Moscow and Phoenix. Tickets are available now and service will begin on August 17th to Pullman-Moscow and November 19th to Phoenix.

According to a press release, the University of Idaho has entered into an agreement with Alaska Air to guarantee a profit for the first three years of service. The university agreed to pay up to $ 500,000 each year if the airline didn’t earn 10% more than operating expenses.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to work with the University of Idaho and partners in the region to support Alaska Airline’s resumption of Boise service,” said Tony Bean, executive director of Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport.

The press release said flight service from the region direct to Boise has been unavailable for about a decade and will ease travel stress for much of northern central Idaho. Lewiston’s flight service ceased in 2018 and flights have been routed via Seattle ever since.

Alaska Air also launched a daily non-stop flight from Boise to Chicago O’Hare and Austin, Texas on Thursday.

“Our guests show us how excited they are with our new service to Chicago and Austin from Boise with strong bookings during the summer months,” said Brett Catlin, vice president of Network and Alliances, Alaska Airlines. “Our new year-round route, connecting Boise and Pullman-Moscow, will provide a vital link to the region’s two major universities, and the seasonal non-stop service to Phoenix is another great way to get the sun and the desert fast this winter to escape the warmth. “
