American Airlines to open largest lounge at Austin airport – Business Traveller

American Airlines announced plans for a new Admirals Club Lounge at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Located near Gate 14 of the airport, it will be the airport’s largest lounge, over 15,000 square meters and seating more than 250 guests.

Construction is scheduled to begin next year, with the design being inspired by the city of Austin and “reflecting the urban fabric of Rainey Street, Austin parks, local art and music.” It is also planned to entertain the guests with music by local musicians.

American’s existing lounge at Austin Airport will remain open during construction of the new facility, and the airline said further information, including the scheduled opening date, will be announced in due course.

AA has grown steadily in Austin, adding more than 25 new non-stop routes to and from the airport in the past year.

Commenting on the news, Clarissa Sebastian, General Manager for Premium Customer Experience and Onboard Products, said:

“Austin has such a unique energy with its fascinating mix of technology and art. American would like to start a club that reflects this eclectic style and pays homage to the vibrant music scene.

“We can hardly wait for customers to experience the new space, with a lot more space to relax, unwind and enjoy.”

American gradually reopened its Admirals Club and flagship lounges this fall after easing travel restrictions.
