Do you have any plans to travel anytime soon? With these six culturally diverse activities, you can travel the world right here in Austin. So skip the pass and gain international experience right here in Austin.
Since we’re talking about travel (even if it’s only in Austin), we had to ask Exploring Amanda, travel expert and Austin.com employee, for her opinion.
Here are Amanda’s explorations for an international experience without leaving Austin
Tango corner | 209 Pedernales Street
Transport to Latin America or Argentina through the art of movement. At Esquina Tango, you can take a private tango lesson or take a group class. With an emphasis on their performing arts, Esquina Tango strives to build a vibrant and diverse community in East Austin. Check out their schedule here.

Tony’s Jamaican Food | 2700 West Pecan Street (Pflugerville)
Tony’s Jamaican Food is the home cooked place you didn’t know you needed. Upon entering, you will be greeted by the friendly staff and taken at a comfortable table. They strive to give you a true Jamaican experience so make sure you arrive hungry. Pro tip: try the oxtail or jerk chicken and get ready to feel like you’re in Jamaica, man!
Uchi | 801 South Lamar Boulevard
Uchi means “house” in Japanese, so it makes sense that it would be in a house in South Austin. After more than 10 years of training in Tokyo, New York and Austin with two different sushi masters, Chef Tyson Cole proudly leads the team with the best dishes and presentations. Go here for a date and try the chef’s tasting menu. And be sure to check out the happy hour, which runs from 4pm to 6.30pm every day
Sahara Lounge | 1413 Webberville Road
Discover the wonderful variety of live music from jazz to Africa, folk or Brazilian. The Sahara Lounge hosts Africa Evenings where you can dance, listen to their house band and enjoy a free dinner buffet. Try their unique cocktails and get ready to dance the night away. Did we mention that there is free parking and an outside deck ?!
Café Buenos Aires | 1201 East 6th Street
The menu at the Buenos Aries Cafe is deeply rooted in Argentine culture. From food to wine, you can have the full experience in Buenos Aries! Make sure to check out half the bottles of under $ 50 wine on Mondays. This is not tied to a time, as the offer lasts all day. They also have delicious $ 3 worth of empanadas Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm

Bonus:
Take a shuttle to Hill Country for vineyards and wineries. Here in the heart of Texas, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into an old world wine country. With miles of vineyards and even a castle along the way, consider the 290 Wine Shuttle. They offer pick up every 10 minutes.
