GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (WFRV) – Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB) is now charging electric cars with the help of a full-service provider of clean energy solutions.
According to a press release, EnTech Solutions has installed an EV charging system at GRB. Airport officials say the new electric vehicle charging station will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“As air travel for personal and business needs continues to grow, it is important to us to meet the changing needs of travelers. One of these areas is supporting the charging needs of EV owners, ”explains airport director Marty Piette, AAE while they are dropping off or picking up. Powering the chargers with clean energy also supports our environmental efforts and is inexpensive at the same time. “

The EV charger in the short-term parking area is also supported by the power grid and uses an Xcape microgrid solution. Officials say the on-grid system was installed within two weeks and can be monitored remotely.
“The microgrid-based charger at Austin Straubel can generate up to 21,630 kilowatt hours of solar energy a year,” says Scott Romenesko, President of EnTech Solutions. “That’s enough for the airport to deliver around 300 electric car charges per year using clean solar energy as the primary energy source.”
Piette says the new addition is unique because it is solar powered. He explains that there are only four of these units in the state of Wisconsin, the first of which is in Green Bay.
