SALT LAKE CITY – The post-Thanksgiving travel rush is bringing airports across the country to a standstill as passengers feel more comfortable flying again.

Salt Lake City International Airport employees expect around 26,000 passengers on Sunday.

Sakeena Landry and her Maltipoo Clifford flew back to California after visiting their family in Salt Lake.

“[Thanksgiving] was beautiful, ”said Landry. “I helped my mother cook and she put it together. Magic.”

Landry said she noticed a huge difference between Thanksgiving trips this year and last year.

“I love it. People are my thing. I love people,” she said. “The simple fact that people get used to being with people again makes me happy.”

Michelle Rankin was from Puerto Rico. She waited for the crowds at the airport and came prepared.

“We received text messages and phone messages that the parking lot was completely full. “Make separate plans. Please arrive up to three hours before your flight, ”she said. “The TSA pre-check line was about 35 minutes of waiting time. This is not typical of Puerto Rico. We usually stand in line, be out in about five minutes and you are through security. But today was longer. “

Despite the long wait, travelers report that things are going pretty smoothly.

“The lines in Austin were pretty long, but overall it wasn’t that bad,” said Hunter Kent.
