AUSTIN (KXAN) – A person was hit and killed on Interstate 35 in downtown Austin Wednesday morning.
Austin police said the driver of a pickup truck met the person near the north end of the division of I-35 into the upper and lower decks near Wilshire Boulevard. The lower deck lanes to the north are closed to the crash investigation and APD said it does not know when the lanes will reopen.

The driver stayed at the scene, said APD. The person hit was pronounced dead at 5:25 a.m.
Avoid the area if you can so the crews can clear the crash. If you have to travel in this area, traffic will be diverted to the upper deck. Expect delays and slowdowns.
