Thursday’s prep roundup: Foster leads Creek to win over Swan Valley

Riley Foster led Bullock Creek to a 5-1 win over hosts Swan Valley in non-conference boys’ football on Thursday.

Foster scored a hat trick and assist in Thursday’s win, bringing Creek 3-1 that season.

Maison Keister opened the lead after three minutes after a pass from Foster with a chipped ball on the Vikings goalkeeper. About 17 minutes later, Foster found himself back on the scorers list with a goal.

Foster scored another goal in the 13th minute after a pass from Gavin Tate. Logan Korson shot a pass to Jason Korson for another goal about a minute later.

Foster crowned the goal and scored his hat trick with just one second of play time.

Ben Myers had four saves with five shots. Creek Outshot SV 18-5.

The Lancers travel to Bay City John Glenn on Tuesday.

TENNIS CHARGER DOMINATES HOME QUAD

Dow High took care of the business of its home tennis quad on Thursday.

The Chargers scored 23 out of a possible 24 points. Dow won 7-1 in his first match against Gibraltar Carlson before taking clean sweeps against Saginaw Heritage and Holly.

In the singles Austin King went 3-0 in first place; Dominic Griffin went 1-1 and Andrew Frickey went 1-0 to 2nd; Neimi Patel finished 3rd with 3-0; and Logan Yu finished 4th 3-0.

In doubles, Thomas Ladwein and Aaron Li took first place 3-0; Boaz Qiu and Roofy Elsadaany finished 2 3-0; Shubhan Nagarkar and Vish Karthikeyen finished third 3-0; and Michael McGaugh and Jonathan Song finished 4th 3-0.

“Great work today,” said Chargers coach Terry Schwartzkopf. “The guys implemented the ideas they last worked on in training, fought to concentrate in the heat and humidity and showed how important stamina is for success.

“Both Andrew Frickey and Dominic Griffin moved up to second place in the singles and have taken home wins. This has been a great day to be a Charger.”

The tournament win brings Dow’s record of the season to 6-1. Dow plays in Bay City Central on Monday.

GRABILL NETS THREE GOALS, KINGS WIN

Eric Grabill scored a hat trick on Thursday to lead Calvary Baptist to a 3-1 win over visiting Valley Lutheran in non-conference boys’ football.

In goal, Lucian Snyder made 11 saves with 12 shots for CBA.

The Kings (2-1) travel to Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest on Monday.
