Where To Find the Best Winter Workcation Destinations
[ad_1]
The way employees work has changed dramatically since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic 19 months ago, causing many companies to close their offices and move their workforce to remote positions. To an unprecedented extent, people were working from home or elsewhere with more freedom and flexibility.
Remote workers soon realized that they could use their “office” on the go, basically anywhere they could find a reliable Wi-Fi connection, so they could travel and get their work done at the same time. Since then, the “bleisure travel” or “workcation” trend, which enables longer trips and a better work-life balance, has been booming.

After ‘National Work Life Week’ only recently moved into our review and autumn is officially here, Iceland’s flagship airline Icelandair has decided that now is the time to define the world’s ideal work goals. The analysis of various factors, including quality of life, restaurant prices, internet speed, annual hours of sunshine, warmest and coldest annual temperatures, annual rainy days, average snowfall and instagrammability, resulted in an overall score for cities around the world.
As it turns out, two of the top 10 best winter jobs are in the US, three in Australia and New Zealand, and four in Europe. A Canadian city also made it into the top 10.
In the USA
Who would have thought it, but Northern California’s largest city, San Jose, took first place if all the criteria were considered. Perhaps it has something to do with Silicon Valley’s superior 54.99Mbps internet speed, which is great for remote working. It also ranked high in terms of quality of life, which was measured by factors such as purchasing power index, pollution index, cost of living, safety and health care.

The southern Californian hotspot San Diego took seventh place, but with more than 30 million hashtags on Instagram it also took the top spot as an “instagrammable” city. The year-round warm weather, beautiful beaches and nearby mountains can’t hurt either.
Your idea of an ideal place to work might be to flee to a place with sunshine and warm weather during the colder months of North America. Or maybe you are someone who enjoys snowy landscapes, winter sports and a cozy log fire at the end of the day.
The three best cities for a sunny workplace
The sunniest places for a winter workcation are all in the US – Austin and Dallas, Texas and Charlotte, North Carolina. Austin’s average warmest temperature is 97.7 ° F. Dallas ranks just second with an average high of 97.2 ° F, followed by Charlotte with an average of 29.6 ° F.
The three best cities for a snowy workplace
Based on Average Annual Snowfall, Copenhagen, Denmark; Madison, Wisconsin; and Reykjavik, Iceland take the top spots. Copenhagen receives an astonishing average of 193 inches of snowfall each year, while Madison has an annual snowfall of 53 inches per year. Reykjavik rounds out the top 3 with an annual snowfall of 32 inches.
